Yummy!!

Butterflies are always so pretty and what I like about this photo is the different angle, the leading lines and the tilt. This swallowtail butterfly photo does not display the wings as the center of attention but the eyes and proboscis. Swallowtail butterflies (genus Papilio) are large, colorful butterflies in the family Papilionidae, and include over 550 species. Though the majority are tropical, members of the family inhabit every continent except Antarctica. Swallowtails have a number of distinctive features such as the forked appearance of the swallowtails' hindwings, which can be seen when the butterfly is resting with its wings spread and that gave rise to the common name swallowtail.

Oxybelis aeneus, commonly known as the Mexican vine snake or brown vine snake, is a species of colubrid snake, which is endemic to the Americas. In Arizona it is also called "pike-headed tree snake". Even if is a mildly venomous rear-fanged snake and not dangerous to us, it still does look impressive with its mouth opened!

Perro zompopo

We found this beautiful helmeted iguana (Corytophanes cristatus) or as perro zompopo as it is known locally near Arenal in Costa Rica. I don't know why it would be called perro "dog" but in any case, it is a species of lizard endemic to the New World. It is found from southern Mexico to South America in rainforests. With long limbs, it climbs well, and feeds on insects, spiders, worms, and other lizards. It can change colors too from dark to light or vice versa. Cool, isn't it?

Along with the Asteraceae, they are one of the two largest families of flowering plants. Orchids are easily distinguished from other plants, as they share some very evident characteristics. Among these are: bilateral symmetry of the flower, many resupinate flowers, a nearly always highly modified petal (labellum), fused stamens and carpels, and extremely small seeds.

This is my first attempt at capturing a snowflake. And I wanted to shoot it 'in the wild", that is no staged, just as it had fallen. I wanted that level of simplicity. and, although it is not perfect, it's still beautiful. There's beauty in imperfections as long as we know nothing can be totally perfect and that is ok.
